Cardboard Rocket

Hello, I’m Kyle

Cardboard Rocket is me. One person, based in Glasgow, building the websites and software that small businesses actually need.

I started it because of a pattern I kept seeing. A small business pays an agency a lot of money, waits three months, and gets something slow that nobody will explain to them and that they cannot update without going back to the agency. Or they pay almost nothing for a template and end up with something that never brings in a single enquiry.

There is a lot of room between those two outcomes. That room is where I work.

Being one person is the point, not a limitation I am apologising for. You brief the person who writes the code. Nothing is lost in a handover, because there is no handover. I take on a small number of projects at a time so that each one gets proper attention.

I work with businesses all over the UK, but I am in Glasgow, so if you are nearby and would rather talk in person, that is easy to arrange.

How I like to work

I will tell you if you do not need me

If a problem is better solved with an off-the-shelf tool costing a tenner a month, I will say so. It costs me a job and earns a recommendation, which is the better trade.

Fixed prices

You get a figure before the work starts. If something changes mid-project, you hear the cost before I do the work, never on the invoice afterwards.

You own everything

The code, the domain, the hosting accounts. Nothing is held hostage. If you outgrow me, you can walk away cleanly.

Plain English

You will never be asked to sign off on something you do not understand. If I cannot explain a technical decision simply, I will keep trying until I can.

Got something in mind?

Tell me what you are trying to do and I will tell you honestly whether I can help, what it would cost, and how long it would take. I reply within one working day.
